I'm going to do some gardening today as most of my summer pots are looking a bit tired. I am in no means an expert gardener, usually just picking up pre made flowers from the garden center which i find usually die within a few weeks as they are selling them off! I have a small, half shady, half sunny garden which needs borders and pots replacing ready for the Autumn months. I also need plants which do not need to much attention apart from watering. Does anyone know what types/names of plants that will loo nice and survive an English Autumn? Thanks in advance

  1. climbing roses will surivive all year, but loses its leaves in winter. other than that you will have nice large sometimes fragrant blooms that come in many colors from a white to a white and pink to a pink, a red dark red and yellow. most to all have thorns, but some have very few next to none. they look great climbing an arch by a walkway. you can tie it in the arch with something till it gets a grip on it. also need some water on hot days, but actually dont mind the clay soils of many communities.

    good luck

  2. Plants that look nice at this time of the year are:  Mums, Echinacea, Michaelmas Daisy/Aster,  Daylilies, Ornamental grasses  & Knock Out Roses.

Ornamental grasses look great all season long...even in the winter.  You'd have to check with your garden centers to see which are hardy in your area.
