What players would you take out of the US team

Also who would you replace them with?

I would replace no defense Carmelo w/ Josh Smith also replace Boozer and Prince for KG and Rashard Lewis/ Ray Allen or Paul Pierce (to help w/ their 3 pt game)

Carlos Boozer and Williams. Theres no substance with these Jazz players. Might as well have Tim Duncan and Bruce Bowen on the team. Nash cannot be on the team since he's Canandian and his Canada team didn't even make the Olympics.

i would take out Melo caz he barely do anything for the team and replace him for bosh at starter and put Michael Beasley at bench.then i would take out Kobe bryant caz he is no beter than melo by s******g the team up by taking unneccessary threes and missing them. and dont give me the lame execuse that heis providing defense caz he is not. i rather have wade where he can steal and get high turn overs for the opposing team

I wud replace melo with kg cuz he was defensive player of year and melo sucks playing at pf (they got him pf now) so it wud work perfect.

I would definently replace Prince with Paul Pierce. Prince just does not seem to belong on the team.  I would then replace Boozer with Tyson Chandler. I would say KG, Stoudamire, or Duncan but they all refused to come due to various reasons

Considering that they are winning, I wouldn't touch it. Definitely don't want to mess with a good thing. Chemistry is more important than talent at this level.

I'd add height in a true center. I'd also look to improve shooting. Point Guard seems like a spot where the team could do with one less person probably Williams but having him is probably an investment in 2012. J. Kidd may not be too important now either though he really helped in the FIBA tournament of the Americas. Boozer doesn't seem to be needed.

The guys I'd like to add would be Duncan, and KG though both were not available. A shooter or 2 would help but they tend to be streaky so it's a c**p shoot as to who is better the Redd, Melo, Prince.

I agree. With the international sharpshooters, like Lithiuana and Germany (Dirk) especially they can greatly take advantage of lazy defenders like Carmelo. And one weakness of U.S team to my opinion is their outside shooting overall. No one in the team has a consistent jumper besides Redd and maybe Kobe. If the bigger teams play zone defense, it will be interesting to see how U.S can score seeing how their team overall is undersized compared to most of the other teams in this Olympics. Although the big3 of Boston has stated they didn’t want to play in the Olympics. However, I think this time, the gold will finally go back to the U.S.

I'm only "replacing" some Americans for others who did sign up for the team.

1. Replace Carmelo with Antawn Jamison (good rebounder, more of a true PF than Melo; he is good at the catch and shoot game, like Dirk.  He actually was Dirk's backup in his one season in Dallas.  He is also a very effective rebounder.)  

2. Replace Deron Williams with J.J. Redick (We have THREE NBA starting PG's on the team, and another two (Wade and James) who also are effective at PG.  Redick could be the type of guy who may not be a great NBA star, but could break games open in FIBA ball with the catch and shoot game.  Not that Williams isn't Olympic worthy, but none of our PG's are pure shooters.  Only Gilbert Arenas fits that, but he'd be a cancer to this team.)

I think the team is fine the way it is, but i agree with the guy that said ray allen!!!!! we need shot!! oh and for the person that said to take out redd is insane.

I don't think KG, Rashard, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Josh smith will want to play for the USA team

they should replace Boozer for Tyson Chandler cuz he got the height

and replace Jason Kidd for Mike Miller

Deron and Chris Paul is way enough for the backcourt
