  1. I think he was just trying to honor soldiers who had given the ultimate sacrifice for their causes.


  2. That it was ok to leave the Confederate dead to rot unburied.

    Grossly overrated bit of guff.

    Starts off with a mathematical problem.

    Then a weird mixed metaphor about childbirth, culminating in a nation dedicated to what - an ideal, a goal, a belief?  No, a PROPOSITION!  Give me a rest...

  3. To not allow the dead soldiers to die in vain.  He called for victory that would end slavery and with malice toward none.

  5. He was only attempting to honor the dead who fought there. There was a bit of "rah-rah" in some phrases but it was basically a eulogy - the best ever presented (in my opinion) and he wasn't limiting his sadness to the Northern soldiers either. It was a NATIONAL tragedy.
