What policies were incorporated following the 9/11 attacks?

For a media assignment I have to discuss the effects that the 9/11 attacks have on Australian society, I know that the US instigated the Patriot Act but I'm not sure what policies the Australian goverment instigated

well part of the new rules says anyone coming into or leaving the US (including Aussie tourists) can have all their electronic devices confiscated indefinitely by Homeland Security. So be prepared to lose your cell phone, computer, external hard drives, flash drives, memory sticks, cameras, Ipods, Furby's, and everything else.(This happens at the border crossing.) So if taking in the USA, be sure to mail your electronics from Canada or Mexico, and then mail them out of the country when you leave the USA.
