  1. It caused and showed many differences between the states that didn't have slavery (North) and those that did (South). This was most notably seen in Congress when each side was looking out for their best interests causing tension and even physical fights in Congress.

    Slavery caused the North to see the South as a backwards place because rather than industrialize they stuck to slavery.

    The South got fed up with the North and started a new republic. Slavery alone did not start the Civil War but rather the many differences between the North and South and the South's concession.
