What portable radio should I get?

I bought a few portable radios at CVS to take with me when I'm walking and riding in a car. They all had static when I tested them at my home and on the road. Is there a radio that won't have static or lose reception? Sometimes the radio goes off the air and I can't hear anything. I need a portable sized radio that works good. Where can I buy one and how much will it cost? I need a store in Bradenton,FL.

in the car, get sirius satelite radio, but otherwise get a sony portable radio. EXCELLENT QUALITY!!
