i asked this question before, but i forgot to say that i like to serve too.if i make the team, i dunno what position i should play. i mean im pretty short, about only 5 ft. I haven't really tried hitting the ball, but I know that i'm probably too short to play front row. I'm also good at passing, but kind of suck at doing a serve-receive. I mean I don't suck, but im not a master at doing it. I'm ok at serving. I can set, but I don't really have that much aim with my sets. Sometimes they go too short or low and im afraid the hitter can't hit them. but overall, they're ok. should i just ask my coach? i dont want to be left with playing front row when everyone chooses they're positions so i wanna know which one i should choose. one of my coach varsity players made me play middle back.

  1. if you love playing back row then go for libero, don't worry about not being a "master" cuz know one is! setter is also a great position to play, because barely anyone does it so there isnt too much competition in getting the spot, and if your worried about the sets, practice makes perfect! you seem like a very well rounded player and i wouldnt be worried :)

  2. I would do backrow and work on setting on the side until your comfortable with that.

usually coaches like all around players but thats what i would do for you right now.

  3. i would try working on getting better at back row.. libero or ds. you know, since you're only 5 ft ;) and i'm pretty positive that for high school volleyball, liberos can serve, so that would be good for you.

    good luck!!

  4. i would say go libero or try setting

  5. probably libero...you get a lot of playing time  but the only bad thing is that you don't get to serve but ya know whatev  just keep working at it!!

  6. Don't worry too much on what you want to play because that's what the ccoach is there for. The coaches will decide where they want to stick everyone based on their abilities... No one on the team will get to choose where they play...The most the coaches may do is ask where you have played before, but that never means you'll definately play there. I see a lot of people saying to be a libero, or defensive specialist.... but players don't PICK their positions...that's what the coaches are there to do, decide who belongs where, and what's going to be best for the team... Being a player you see things differently then being a coach... Coaching is a whole nother mentality. Your whole goal while you are there is to just concentrate on playing the best you can in every single posistion because coaches want well rounded players. Just do as the coaches say, and perform your best...leave the coaching decisions up to the coach.

  7. talk to your coach, trust me she knows whats going on and where you'll do your best

  8. Libero, perf 4 u!!

  9. you should def. ask your coach what position to play because she can see you in a more broad way.. your are your own worse critic and she'll see you different than you.  I think you would make a good setter.  You don't have to be tall for that just have good aim.  You said that you  don't but thats ok...just practice because no one becomes a pro overnight.  Middle back is also ok but you said that you suck at passing, which obviously doesn't connect.  ask your coach about being setter and see what she says.  Good Luck

  10. On most teams, the players don't choose their positions.  The coach will put you in the best position to help the team, and that may depend on who your teammates are.  Given that, if you are short for your age, you will have to earn your way onto the court by being a very good passer.  Practice that skill with extra gusto.  The best passer on a team will always be on the court.
