Question:

What position will I play on the 9th grade football team?

The 9th grade football team was desperate for more players so they asked me to play. I said yes even though I don't know too much about football. The 9th grade team really doesn't have any great players. All the stars in the 9th grade are playing JV or Varsity. We are like the lowest team. The only reason they asked me to play is because i'm one of the biggest guys in my grade. I'm 6'4" 165 pounds. I play tons of basketball and i'm playing JV this year. I am pretty quick I guess. I'm good with my hands. I work out a lot so i'm pretty strong. What position should I play?

thanks

  1. tight end definately

  2. Yeah my high school football team is major good.

except i don't know about this year's freshman football [not to put down any of my friends]

you said you're good with your hands, so if you're fast play RECEIVER(:

  3. I would play linebacker on defense. Since you're big you will be able to squish anyone the goes up the middle. You will also be able to knock down passes. For offense i would play tight end. You can use all of your size, speed and strength there.

  4. Play tight end or wide receiver.  Your height will be an advantage and if you are as fast and good with your hands as you say you are you should be unstoppable at that level of football.

  5. You might make a good Tight End.  You're on the offensive line but a TE can be a blocker, or run the ball, or even run out to receive a pass.  It's a sort of hybrid position between a lineman and a receiver.

  6. Wide Receiver man. I'm 5'10 and 170 pounds. I'm ALL wide receiver and sometimes halfback but a little too small for that. You say you strong and got good hands.

You were just describing a good wide receiver my friend. Hope you do great in football though.

  7. Tight end =]

  8. quarterback

  9. You will most likely plat Tight end or Wide Receiver because of your height, and since you play basketball you have good hands.9th grade tems usually dont have alot of size so they are going to put you where they are weakest.

  10. probably a reciever or tight end bc you are a big target on the field for the quaterback

  11. play defensive tackle!

  12. Work on your speed and play wide reciever so you can get better at running routes.

  13. Wide receiver seems to be the most logical choice.

  14. i'd say tight end, but possibly wide receiver?

  15. if u dnt know much play lineman because its easy to lear, very important, and u dnt have to have much skill, just strenght

  16. what ever you feel like

  17. probably tight end or line backer, if you can throw quarterback, maybe even running back, if they asked you to play then you are probably a good athlete so you might end up doing all of them, good luck

  18. i would say try all of the different positions out. tell your coach youve never played and you dont know where you want to play. after you try different positions than find the one you like best or are the best at and play there

  19. Quarterback or reciever but not the following:

    center

    linemen

    runnerbacks

  20. 6'4" Freshman?? Wow... On D, you'll play DE, I guarantee it. I've been coaching football for 12 years, and any freshman player I had over 6 was almost always a DL. The slow ones are DT, the faster ones are DE. In a 5 man front, you'll play like a DE, but be called a DT because there is a NG.

On O it's going to depend on you're teams offensive system and how you're skills fit in. In my Offense, WingT, you'd be an End unless you were really fast, then you'd be a HB. That's because we run alot of playaction and throw to our Ends downfield.

If you're not that fast you could play G or T. It's only freshman, and freshman lineman are typically no more than 150, so you'd be a pretty big lineman.

Bottomline is to talk to your coach and work hard. Be open to the coaches critisism and don't get discouraged if you don't catch on quick or if he moves your position a few times.

    Good luck in basketball, too....

  21. sounds like you'd be a good wr or te but wr gets more plays

  22. since youre so big maybe tight end? football is easy youll be fine in any position i would think. all you do it run, throw a ball, and hit people!

    good luck!

  23. You sound like a tight end or a Defensive end to me.

J-dubb, S.T.     Dang man im Almost 170. Im 5'10'' and I play WR like crazy. Thats weird.
