What positive comment do you have about the 2008 Olympics at this point?

There have been accusations of cheating and unfair judging. Crimes committed against tourists. There have been athletes disqualified for doping and athletes showing poor sportsmanship.

I want to hear something positive. Please comment about what you have found to be positive about the 2008 Olympics. I am not talking about an athlete that won a Gold or other medal. (All medal winners have a feel good story.) I am talking about a true feel good story. A story about an Olympians hard journey to the olympics but made it there. About a charitable moment where an athlete just does a good deed, etc. If possible, please provide a link so I can read the full story.

Here's to "happy hunting"! Thanks!

  1. Well, one of the women's relay swimmers helped the US win a gold medal -- at the age of 41.

In a sport dominated by college-age people, I thought that was a pretty good "feel good" story.

  5. Ok, there's this guy from the country of Equatorial Guinea that participated in swimming. He didn't even come close to getting a medal and he finished dead last and more than 14 seconds behind the the next to last swimmer but he's a proud man who got a chance to represent his country and he did it and tried his best.
