What possibilities do I have of wearing glasses??

My father wears them but my mother doesn't.

Should that be a factor for me to not use or to use them, or use them with less graduation than my father's???

What age is most likely for people (not for presbyopia but for asthigmatism and miopia) to wear glasses??

If you wear glasses, at what point you don't see without them.

Also, would you recommend me to wear contact glasses??

  1. neither of my parents wear glasses for seeing far away yet i do. I started wearing them in 4th grade but my eye site was going downhill starting in 1st grade. i have an astigmatism and can not see anything from about 5-6 inches from my head but my eye site is REALLY bad. i use to be able to see about a foot or two but mine has gotten worse with time. it usually happens like that if you have bad vision when you are young.

contacts are sent from God! I love mine!!!!! I am suppose to take turns with glasses and contacts but i only wear my glasses for about a week a year. I haven't gone back once i got a good kind. I wear acuview oasis, you cant feel them at all!

good luck, its really not the worst thing in the world. its treatable and everyone gets bad vision at somepoint in their lives. PLUS if you get bad vision seeing far away when your young you dont get the bad seeing close up when your older AND SOMETIMES AT THAT AGE YOUR EYES CORRECT THEMSELVES!

I cant wait to see if mine do that

  2. I think I was around 13 when I was prescribed eyeglasses for astigmatism.  I only have it in my left eye and my right eye has normal vision.  I also have strabismus as well.  I did not start correcting my vision for several years after that.  Neither of my parents wore glasses at the time and my sister had 20/10 vision and still does.

My father developed astigmatism in his fifties and now wears glasses for mild farsightedness/presbyopia and moderate astigmatism.  My mom is also presbyopic as well, but does not have astigmatism.

I think I may have developed astigmatism because of the strabismus or it could also be genetic as well since my Dad has it, however I had it much sooner than he did and I still only have it in one eye.  I have no way to really know.

Refractive errors can show up at any time, if you wear eyeglasses already, then I suggest you only wear them when you need to.  If you can see well enough for the task you are doing, then do not wear them.

It would be nice if we could predict this stuff, but there is really no way to know.

  3. there are a lot of factors with people who do wear glasses.. I didn't really need to wear glasses until i think i was in the 6th grade.. i noticed the board i couldn't read.  Then you have to on the chance that there might be a disease in the family,... diabeties, cateracts, astigmtism.. myopia.

I wear my glasses for when i am looking and doing stuff i do not need my glasses to read.

I do have contacts.  that is more of a personal question and money question to ask your parents.. because they can run pretty high depending on which ones you need

  4. It depends, on how bad your father's eye sight is..

Yes, beacause a blood relative in your family wears glasses, you should get your eyes checked up on every year..

Um, my mom and my dad both wear glasses, and my dad's are very bad, and i started at 5th grade.

now i have contacts, so i wear them all the time..

I would say depending on your life style you should wear contacts, for example if you care a lot about how you look without glasses or if you play sports, yes i would recommnet contacts.

  5. it really depends, I have to wear glasses, I was told I had to wear glasses when I was 4. I refused, I did start to wear them when I was 11. I have an asthigmatism.

Both my parents wear glasses, they both have asthig.... but less sevear then mine.

My sister does not havr to wear glasses and has 20-20 vision.

Contact lenses are excellent, but personally, unless you are very good at your coordination and very very gentle, get daily disposables- you will find that if your asthig... is too bad, you will not be able to get dailies as they cost too much so no company will make them for you. If they offer you hard lenses, say no unless you can tollerate the pain, it would very easily be money wasted. If they offer you a pair lasting a year, you will end up spending just as much on cleaning products to keep them clean, but will find you can never get them clean enough, they will constantly blur and need to be cleaned before you put them in and after they come out of your eyes, so much time is involved, and if you spilt them though cleaning...? thats all your money wasted.!

  6. It really does depends on the genetic.

My mum didn't need to wear them, my dad is long-sighted because of his age (i think)

My nan and grandad needed to wear them all the time, and i became short-sighted at 14. So really, it's genetic.

  7. yes i wore glasses when i was 13 due to the fact i watch too much tv. and you should just go get your eyes examined to see if your eyes are fine or not.
