  1. HI TOM!

UNLESS YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL IT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT TO MIX YOUR OWN POTTING MIXTURE FOR ORCHIDS.

YOUR GARDEN SUPPLY HAS A READY MADE MIX, WHICH IS CUSTOM MADE FOR ORCHIDS.

IT IS EXPENSIVE, COMPARED TO "NORMAL GARDEN SOIL" BUT IT IS THE BEST CHOICE.

I STARTED GROWING ORCHIDS MANY, MANY YEARS AGO AND STILL BUY THE MIX MYSELF.

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR ORCHIDS!  START WITH THE EASIER ONES AND YOU WILL NOT GET DISSAPPOINTED.

    Regards,

    John W.

  2. Sorry cant help!

You could either get advice from your garden centre on buying asuitable potting mix.

You could try googling -say (?) potting mix for Orchids?

  3. Fortunately, for me the Redwood forests are within walking distance. I also have some redwood trees, which supply me with redwood bark. I get a little bit of the forest floor, add some perlite, pebbles from the river, and I am all set to go. That gets sterilised of course. For you, I would suggest pre packaged orchid mix. Add some perlite, and a little potting soil if you want. Don't forget to feed. Byee
