I have a few in the house that are different ratings than the one asked about. None are exactly like it, but all have less output...ie 1500mamp is the highest one.

  1. If the voltage and the connector are the same for the 1500 milliamp unit.  12VDC at 2.0A is 24W.  12VDC at 1.5A is 18W.  I think the 1.5A (1500 milliamp) will work just fine.

You didn't tell us about the device being powered so there could be a reason such as the need for higher output to deliver a high starting current, but give it a go.  My best guess is that it should be OK.  Plug it in and check for excessive warming of the power supply.  If it doesn't get too warm it will be OK.

  2. See if this one at Radio Shack will do:  http://www.radioshack.com/product/index....
