I would hope the ability to breathe underwater. I don't really think mermaids have powers I've heard about immortality but it would be a lonely existance wondering the ocean alone for forever.

Although you cant' do any such thing, you wouldn't be all that different, besides the obvious. Things like breathing underwater, good swimmer, etc. probably, as well as being more connected to water.
