While the Queen is the head of state, all her powers, as well as Royal Assent, are excercised/granted by the Governor General. So does the Queen herself have any legal powers, even on paper, to act on her on will, in Australia ?

  1. yes but no, she is titular head of state only .. although there are some residual powers, they are never considered important since under Bob Hawke and Paul Keating most of her 'powers' were put into abeyance and now we Australians live under the threat of 'American' political systems and the 'leadership of Murdoch and his ill begotten spawn; and any other journalistic dictators in waiting

  2. yes she has coz the queen is the head of state in Autralia she represents it!!!

  3. The Queen can represent Australia abroad as Head of State, if she is also in Australia at the right time she will open Parliament, etc.

  4. No not really. The queen in her present state can not speak for Australia or the people of Australia. She does have the Governor General but that is really about it.

  5. The Queen's powers are quite something in his earlier years - with a head full of party cocktails, and a kick in his heel, the Queen can dance all night - and well beyond the dawn. With age, the Queen may settle into a more sedate lifestyle, but will usually still retain some of his power for a few special nights out a year.
