What precautions should i take with a sound system?

i just bought a sound system for my car. 2 12" subs and an amp. what precautions should i take to prevemt damage to any of the equiptment

  1. make sure that your gain (input sensitivity setting) is correct

    its to maximize clean signal strength from your amp so that you don't send a distorted signal to the speakers (the main cause of speaker damage is distortion)


  2. you should probably secure it to your trunk somehow so it doesn't move around. if you don't do this and you stop too hard or get hit or anything the wires could come out of place. also, in regards to your car battery, if you are sitting in your car and you want to have the stereo on make sure the engine is running otherwise you will drain your battery out real quick. other than that, enjoy ;]
