Some people were talking about Palin and her preoccupation with five children, and how that will detriment her job if she becomes elected and perhaps sworn in as president in McCain's absence or death. This question isn't a debate about Palin, but just curious about it. She might be president one day with McCain's old ticker if subsequently elected.

  1. Although none were born while he was president Teddy Roosevelt had six kids and that didn't seem to keep him from being able to carry out his duties as president.

  2. John Tyler had 15 children (total of seven alive while in office)

10th President of the United States

    (April 6, 1841 to March 3, 1845)

Children: Mary Tyler (1815-48); Robert Tyler (1816-77); John Tyler (1819-96); Letitia Tyler (1821-1907); Elizabeth Tyler (1823-50); Anne Contesse Tyler (1825); Alice Tyler (1827-54); Tazewell Tyler (1830-74); David Gardiner Tyler (1846-1927); John Alexander Tyler (1848-83); Julia Gardiner Tyler (1849-71); Lachlan Tyler (1851-1902); Lyon Gardiner Tyler (1853-1935); Robert Fitzwalter Tyler (1856-1927); Pearl Tyler (1860-1947)

  3. "Esther Cleveland, second child of President Grover Cleveland and Frances Cornelia Folsom, was the only child of a president born in the White House. She was born on September 9, 1893, during Cleveland's second stint in the White House."

Edit: or did you mean most when they became president? John Tyler had fifteen children...eight before his term, seven more after his term with his second wife.

William Henry Harrison had ten children, all before his Presidency obviously.

Edit: Ohh, I see now, you want a GOOD president. Tippecanoe and Tyler were the biggest waste of four years in history.

  4. Barack Obama will.
