What price should i ask for my 50 hp mercury?

I have a 50 hp mercury 1978 It runs but when it gets to full speed it hessitates and acts like it wants to die. I brought it to my mechanic and he said that it was a seel and he said he could not find the seel any where. I have also been told he was stupid. I was thinking about giving my boat to a good friend and selling the motor but i do not know how much to ask??

first you have a carb issue.not unusaul at all.a fair price would be 350 with controls as it is.repaired I personally would not take less than 650.their are alot of people out their looking for an engine such as this.great motor for a pontoon or small fishing boat.
