My tailpipe broke off right after the catalytic converter. Is this something I need to get fixed? Ie: will I die of Carbon Monoxide poisoning if I don't fix it?

  1. engine will not have proper back pressure and will not perform well +fumes in the car

  2. Yes you should get it fixed because the gases will come into the vehicle when you are at stop and start driving plus in most states it is illegal.

  3. YES fix it! The exhaust is coming into the car! CARBON MONOXIDE IS ODORLESS! You might not smell anything but it IS coming in your car. When you drive be sure to leave a window open.

  4. you will need to get an exhaust pipe, a muffler and a tail pipe put on, if you are  handy then maybe a cut up soup can with some hose clamps could get you by for a couple of days.....with the exhaust rusted in one place its not hard to imagine rusted out spots on other parts of the exhaust......

  5. you need to fix this asap, not only is it bad for you but its also is bad for the car too.

  6. if you sit idling in traffic the co2, which is odorless, will build up, gives you a tremendous headache. the open exhaust from the cat can start a fire if it backfires, plus of course for these reasons, and the noise,  it is illegal.

  7. Depends where it is at..if you smell exhaust it is bad. Not to mention it will be really loud and is illegal to not have a catalytic converter.

  8. Ooooo, fix that fast.

There's a pool of circulating air and some of it get sucked into the cab.  And yes you are breathing bad bad air.  You probably are NOT going to die, but you are going to get incredible head aches and body aches (and kill some brain cells).

    Good Luck.
