What problems can waterlillies present when overgrown on a lake?

  1. Their floating leaves may make it difficult for plants beneath them to get enough sunlight for photosynthesis.  Other than that, the only "problems" would be those of human definition - the leaves and stems would make boating and swimming difficult, and are a perfect object for entangling fishing lines.
