  1. None!  Martha Washington is dead.  She has been for over two hundred years.

  2. She hasn't had a bowel movement since 1802.

  3. Her dress she is wearing is way out of style now and probably full of worm holes.

  4. Other than her husband being away at war for seven years?

She had to run the plantation during his absence. When she visited him in winter quarters, travel was very hard and the accommodations far less than their home at Mount Vernon.

From the end of the war until his death, she had to receive a constant stream of visitors, feeding them, putting them up, and arranging entertainment. As the first President's wife, everything she did was subject to scrutiny. Some objected to her style of entertaining, finding it too "aristocratic." She was generally complimented as a gracious hostess, even though she would have preferred a more private life.

Widowed when she married Washington, she again became a widow upon his death. Two of her four children by Daniel Custis died in infancy, a not uncommon occurrence, but still painful. Her other children predeceased her and she had to raise her grandchildren as her own.
