  1. It is widely agreed that solving the conflict diamond problem is a moral obligation. By making a real commitment and joining forces, there will be a way to protect the human rights of Africans, assist in improving the economies of diamond exporting countries in Africa, contribute to bringing peace to the region, while protecting the legitimate world diamond trade.

  2. FINDING THEM. Diamonds are not like metal ore mining. Diamonds are not encrusted into rock, they are in cavities, making them possible to miss when they rock is crushed..

  3. The biggest problem is the cost of production, the overhead.

De Beers control the price by supply and demand and buys up any new ventures that surface.  Illegal mining and blood diamonds to fund rebel movements and insurgency devalue the price since it is not traded through the normal channels.

Additionally a process has been developed to produce artificial diamonds in the lab.  How does any enterprise compete with these obstacles and be profitable. . . .That is your question and there are no easy solutions.

  4. And what problem would that be.

The fact that De Beers has a monopoly on the market. Or, the stealing. Or, the destruction of land. Or, the inhumane treatment of miners. Or, the marketing misconception that it is a rare element. Or, the fact that now a diamond not only represents love but also death. So, which problem ?
