  1. well, motion can be decribed in term of velocity or acceleration.

in term of velocity, the rotary motion is produced when there is a change in angular posistion. This type of velocity is called "angular velocity".

in term of acceleration, the rotary motion is produced when there is a change in angular velocity. This type of acceleration is call "angular acceleration".

  2. Briefly , to change motion :

from "rotary motion" into "translational motion" use : --- worm gear and worm system.

from "rotary motion" into "reciprocating motion" use : --- a  "cam" with any profile you need

From " rotary motion" into " 1/4 cycle stop motion" use : geneva machanism.

Actually, rotary motion could be converted to infinite types of motion, using suitable mechanism/cam.
