i have found a product called Vertglas. Has anyone tried it? It is a little more pricey than other products, but before I drop the money, I would like to know. I'm about to try "Mirror Glaze" oxidiztion kit. It is about $70 cheaper than the Vertglas($100), so I'm trying it first. Has anyone tried the Mirror Glaze? thanks

  1. 3m makes a couple of different types of fiberglass rubbing compounds they can be found in the boat section of your local wal mart for apx $10 bucks I have used them and they all work well on my boats.

Be sure to have some extra sleep the night before b/c it's an all day job.

  2. I have not heard nor used "vertglas".  3M products are great and work well when used with equipment like the pros have, and with their skill.  Thing is though, there are so many 3M products it's tough knowing what grit level you should start off with and then which one to move to next.  The two best and easiest products that helped me TURN A PROFIT on a very oxidized used boat (after a year) were Aurora Boat Scrub and Boat Shine.  They were suggested to me by a canvas repair lady.  The stuff worked wonders and is WAY better than the StarBrite stuff at WestMarine/BoatUS.  Get your shoulder into shape b/c it's a labor intensive job (any product that says it isn't is lying and you shouldn't buy it).  Good luck.  I'll be using some on my boat this fall.  Plus... it's cheaper than most other produts.  Check them out: http://www.auroramarine.com/

  3. Use 3M Super Duty on a 9" orbital buffer/grinder.  Go back over it with a lighter compound like regular 3M buffing compound. Then use 3M Finesse-It and then a regular wax product.
