What program allows you to zoom into a photo and then restore the image to full quality?

Hey I'm looking for a program that will allow me to zoom into a photo, and then restore the quality. I've seen this on tons of movies where they zoom into an image and at first it's very blurry, but then they apply some sort of effect and it clears up. Is that just science fiction or is there a program that can do that?

Thanks!

  1. That's done with the Easy Button.

It's mostly science fiction. There are programs that attempt to do this, but nothing I have seen beats the human eye, Photoshop and skill. You can't "restore" the quality, what you see zoomed in is the original quality.

  2. Photoshop is great for fixing photos

  3. What you see in the movies is simply the camera first being unfocused on the subject and then gradually focusing to become sharp.

I think what you are talking about is that you want to zoom into a part of a photo, blow it up an still retain original picture quality and sharpness.

Unfortunately this is not really possible.

Say your images measures 3000 pixels by 2000 pixels and you zoom in to an area of this photo that measures 600 by 400 pixels.

You can stretch this smaller area to make it bigger but it will still only measure 600 by 400 pixels no matter how big you make it and unfortunately the bigger you make it the worse it will look.

When photographing something, make sure to take a mixture of shots including ones that include the whole subject and others where you zoom in with the lens zoom to capture smaller details. in this way you retain detail as the detail will measure 3000 by 2000 pixels (for example).

Bewarre of camera shake when you zoom in though, a tripod can be useful.

  4. To a certain extent, that kind of thing can be done - within limits.

But, largely, it's almost always movie "magic."

The technology that can zoom in and then perfectly focus and expose a license plate from a mile away, or a person's face ... not so much.

    Pure fantasy!
