I have heard about a program called HandBrake. But I believe this will only work for uncopyrighted discs. Research before you download, definitely.

If they are DVDs you own you legally can make backups for your own use.

You have to bypass the copy guard. To do this you need a program like AnyDVD. AnyDVD makes the copy guard invisible and any copy program will then copy it.
