  1. http://www.gimp.org is a free image manipulation and creation tool

If you would prefer something like Microsoft Word, where you can type and just drag and drop images into your label, then download and install Open Office, from http://www.openoffice.org and use the Writer program.

  2. A very powerful vector drawing program can be found at http://www.inkscape.org/ .

Inkscape is very similar to CorelDraw in principal and will give you all the tools you need to create labels for your wine.

Bonus! It's legal and free but still extremely professional. No need to look further than that for what you need. Easy to learn as well.

There is also a very supportive community backing it online and the forums will quickly see you through all, if any, problems you may encounter.

  3. http://www.freelabelmaker.com/

    From the website:

Nothing looks as great as your own personalized labels on a bottle. Talented artists around the world have provided beautiful labels for you, all for free.

FreeLabelmaker are the first in the world to give away free personalized labels! So, why purchase expensive labels when you easaly can select labels in a variety for all occasions, such as anniversary parties, wedding receptions, birthdays etc.

Search and select a label in our label library and just type in your own copy, like the name of the wine or event. Then print out the labels directly from your computer screen. Easy and completely free.

Professional artists around the world have provided their work for free. They have donated graphic design work worth thousands of dollars for you to use for free.

Disclaimer: No idea if they're genuine. I just used the right search terms to get there.

  4. if you can draw /paint.

design your label by hand .take a photo~use any photo program to size it .eg to ¼ A4.then put 4 on an A4 sheet .run through printer.

that's as free as it gets ~hope this helps.
