  1. I used to be an Academic Advisor for a University in Houston.  It won't take her too long to get her certificate, but she needs to get a certificate to be more hireable.  As far as doing this on line..No, not possible.  When student teaching(which is usually required to get certified)  you must physically be in the classroom working with a Teacher and the students.  It's all about the hands on experience.  I would suggest she check out her local Universities and see the Academic Advisors in person.  She will need copies of her previous transcripts with her so they can see what she has taken previously.  First, get on line and check out the major Universities Education programs on line and then call to speak to the education departments.  With you having your Bachelors already, you may only have to take a few upper-level education courses and then do your student teaching...every school will be about the same because they all have to follow the same state guidelines.  I would not suggest going the fastest, cheapest, or easiest route through alternative placement agencies.  I'm assuming Minnesota has very strong teacher unions and it is much more difficult to find a teaching position there..they just don't open up as often.  It may take 2-3 years to get your certificate, but it will pay off in the end.  Just make sure you get your certification.  It is much easier to find a job.  Hope this helps.  Oh, also check with some local teachers and ask their advice.  Get a job subbing in the schools to be able to network..get to know the Principals and have them get to know you.  It will make job hunting much easier to know people in the schools. Good Luck!
