  1. ask d geeks themselves--lol--they seem 2 know a lotttt!!

d answer above mine seems correct though.

  2. None whatsoever.

On the contrary, man has been highly intelligent and able to speak right from Creation.

That is based on the evidence in the Bible - an eyewitness account.

It is only evolutionary philosophy that suggests otherwise. (Not science!)

  3. A couple of these answers are right on the money.  Another interesting fact is that humans, because of this speech gift we have, are the only animals on the planet who can die from choking on our food - certainly speech has it's evolutionary costs!

  4. There is a lack of symbolic artifacts over 50,000 years old.  This has led some to speculate that this is when speech began.  Personally, I thought that conclusion was one of the most ridiculous I have ever heard.  It has subsequently been shown that Neanderthals possess a highly developed hyoid bone necessary for speech.  This indicates speech probably was probably around for at least 400,000 years IMO.  It should be noted that a hyoid bone is very small and delicate and its absence in the fossil shouldn't be taken as proof for its absence in the animal. Homo erectus was found to have narrow spinal chords.  Humans evolved thicker chords apparently for added muscle control of the diaphram and intercostal muscles to allow for greater control necessary for our modern speech.  The ability for this great control of our lungs was apparently not present in H. erectus and evolved in the last million years.  This doesn't prove that H. erectus might not have had a different mechanism for speech or a simpler version.  There are also areas of the brain where modern speech centers are located that can be seen in various fossils

  5. Early hominins did not have a hyoid bone which had descended into the larynx, which allows us to speak as we know it today!

The ability to pause in our brathing, and voluntarily aspirate while using words, is 2 million years old or less...
