What proof is there that South America and Africa were once joined?

Also, there's modern measurements showing that they're still drifting apart due to oceanic crust being created in the atlantic.

Plate tectonics show which directions the continents are 'drifting' and S. America and Africa are moving away from eachother.  Also, fossil evidence of the same animals living on both continents hundreds of millions of years ago corroborates this.
