What prop do I need 20 ft. pontoon 50 hp mercury 4 strok?

I only get about 4500 rpm it has a 12x11 ss on it now it is suposed to getn 5500 to 5600 it is a 2007

  1. At the price of SS props something isn't correct that's a flat pitch an should turn up more RPM  First have the engine checked out> Might have the prop shop check the cup some 1 might of put a 6 or higher cup> That might be holding the prop back from turning up>


  2. You defiantly need to use a smaller pitch prop to bring your rpm up.

    Since you have an 11 pitch on now I would try a 9 pitch.You do not say

    whether your engine has the big foot lower unit on it for pontoon application.This lower unit has a special prop for use on pontoon boats.

    You may want to check this first to make sure that whoever sold you this boat did not install the wrong engine.I would also suggest that you

    use an aluminium prop instead of a stainless steel as they are not as expensive.I hope this will help you and good luck.
