What proportion of UK cops are armed?

I understand its more than most would imagine. My uncle worked for The Civil Nuclear Constabulary and was always armed, so are the PSNI etc.

I live in Northern Ireland and they are all armed.

It varies according to the area and the level of risk.  This means that in central London, and at airports, you will see a large proportion of officers with pistols, and quite a few with H & K SMGs.   Motorway patrols are often armed, too.  In a rural county force, however, officers are unarmed on all ordinary duties, although there is always an armed support unit on call.

UK Cops do not carry guns. They may have some elite swat unit type thing taht has guns but uk cops only carry clubs.
