  1. Integral Proteins - can be found in and out of the bilayer.

    Peripheral Proteins - are anchored on the outside of the bilayer (either intracellular or extracellular)

  2. On one side of what?  If its the membrane, they are integral monotopic proteins.

  3. Extrinsic proteins are on one side of the cell membrane only.

    If they span the whole membrane they are called intrinsic.
