  1. None, Canada is too cold for me

  2. vancouver has the mildest weather. some palms can even grow in vancouver plus british columbia is near the coast. it does rain alot though.

ontario is much colder with lots of snow in the winter, but summes are wam and their are lots of days with sun.

nova scotia isnt too bad either

  3. I live in Nunavut, cold in the winter but almost no thunderstorms.  Clean air, pure water and lots of snow for cross-county skiing.

No need for smog alerts, air conditioning or tornado shelters.

  4. I love what I have seen of the weather in Nova Scotia.

  5. The western coastline area of British Columbia gets few if any thunderstorms, but the trade off may be that it is rather cloudy and misty, especially in the wintertime, due to the onshore flow from the adjacent cool Pacific Ocean.

  6. I may be biased but southern Quebec has it good. Montreal I find is smoggy at times but closer to the border, it gets warm in the summer during the day, cool at nights. Fall can be really nice and winter you get snow (especially last winter!! almost 12 ft (4m) of snow).

  7. BC has the most variety of climates, so the chances are good that you could find somewhere to live in BC with weather you like.  BC has the wettest places (windward side of Coastal and Insular Mountains), the driest places in southern Canada (eg, Kamloops, Merritt, Ashcroft, Osoyoos), the hottest places (same as driest places), and among the coldest.  Deserts to rainforests; no other province can claim that !   However, it can't compete with Ontario for amount of lightning (Toronto: 250 flashes/year/100 km; Vancouver: 6)

For a list of amount of lightning per Canadian city, see:  http://www.msc.ec.gc.ca/education/lightn...

For a colour-coded Canada map of lightning rates, see: http://www.msc.ec.gc.ca/education/lightn...

I used to be scared of lightning, too.  I got largely over my fear by educating myself on the risks of lightning and what to do if caught in a storm.  Under the right circumstances I can now enjoy watching a spectacular display of lightning.

Incidently, there are so many things that go into making for a great community to live in - I don't recommend relying strictly on the lightning maps in planning your future residence!
