What psu should i get?

i have an old machine whose psu died and i wish to turn it into a linux machine. The wattage on the psu was unreadable so i want to know what psu to get for it.

here are the specs:

2gb RAM.

p4 3.00ghz socket 775

7600GT

P5NE-SLI motherboard.

dual DVD drives.

1 hard drive.

floppy and memory card reader.

  1. I'd go with 400-500 watt. Don't skimp...especially if you plan to upgrade your parts at a later date.

    To often people will go with what ever cheap psu they find without a thought to the  future when they get faster and more demanding hardware like video cards and more harddrives.


  2. Go wit a 600 watt psu to future proof it incase you go sli with 280gtx's or what ever you are going to do.

  3. i have the 650w version of this psu....here is the 550 watt version......corsair, 1-12v rail w/41amps.......scott
