  1. write stuff on thier walls with marker

  2. whip them with a belt

  3. Make them repaint the wall with paint that they buy themselves. Ground them for  a week and make them apologize to whoevers property they ruined

  4. apologize to the people and have them scrub, paint or clean off the graffitti.  Both children are wrong and should be made to do some volunteer work at the local hospital, animal shelter, nursing home, library.

17 year old sholud do 17 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER WORK FOR SEVENTEEN WEEKS.

12 year old should do 12 HOURS OF VOLUNTEER WORK FOR TWELVE WEEKS.

Speak to the supervisor in charge of these institutions and have them fill out a sign in and sign out sheet for the volunteer hours.

Your children obviously found time in their schedule to make graffitti.  Those hours and those weeks will teach them to have respect for people or animals.  It will keep them occupied as well.

  5. The paddle might be a real good idea for the 12 year old. But at 17 what is a boy that age thinking about. I would suggest grounding for two weeks and extra chores for them both. No exceptions.

  6. Make them scrub it off with a "Mr Clean Magic Eraser". If it doesn't come off, they get to repaint the wall. In addition to that, they are grounded for a week. They are 17 and 12, they should know better.

And they need to buy all the supplies. Paint, brushes, magic erasers, etc. Don't let them get away with it.

  7. It's also very clear in this question why kids are the way they are. I say Make them scrub it or repaint it. If they cannot afford the paint and supplies you buy it and make them work it off with you after. Make them apologize and GROUND THEM! That is beyond old enough to realize you shouldn't write on someone's wall. a 6 year old knows that. I would ground them for a week, no cell, no computer, no friends. and make them do chores around the house. You can do whatever you think is the best decision for your parenting style this is just a suggestion. You know best! Good luck!

  8. make them scrub it themselves and got apologize to the people

  9. Get one thing straight, on other people's property its called vandalism.  Damage for no other reason other than to damage someone else's property.  We had this issue with our daughter last year just before she turned 12.

In my opinion, a spanking your 12 year old will remember for some time to come.  Your 17 year old, grounded in ways he/she will remember for some time to come.

There is also the issue of restitution or clean-up.

Sorry, but I have absolutely no time for vandals!!!

  10. Make the punishment severe  so they really get the message..Make them clean up the mess.scrubbing and painting if necessary. No cell or landline phone, no tv, no electronic games of any sort, no friends over no leaving the house and take away thier favorite thing, no matter what it is for one week..Don't give in..Once you do they will know they can get away with whatever they want and next time the crime may be way worse.Be sure they appologise in person ..At those ages, they knew better! Also ask them how they would feel if someone had written all over thier favorite Item..

  11. It is tough raising kids these days.  I am proud of you for taking the time to calm down before making your decision.  Whatever you do decide has to come from calm rationalization, so that they know you mean business and what they did is unacceptable behavior.

They should be made to face the person who's property they damaged. And I think they should clean it up.   Depending on the severity of the damage, it could mean talking with a Police Officer about what consequences they may face.

  12. you can stop their pocket money or put them on the naughty corner and watch supernanny, you'll get great ideas from their.

  13. what situation are you in? are you family? teacher?

  14. Why is a 17 yr old writing on any walls? Make them wash the walls with soap and water or whatever will remove the marker but not the paint.

  15. make them repaint the whole walls.

and ground them for 2 months

that is so fair if they are doing that

  16. Make them clean it off, ifit won't come off make them repaint the whole wall.

AND take them down to the police station and get an officer to have words to them that if they do it again they can and will be charged with Vandalism.

  17. Have them clean it up, and have them do chores around the house adding up some money and have them donate it to an organization that helps with cleaning up the community.

  18. well best if they have to pay for the damages, either from job/allowance or additional chores to 'earn' the money... maybe ground them til it is paid off

personally i like it when the punishment is related to the 'crime'
