  1. It's a bit of a Gretzky tribute. He was skating in a 10 year old league when he was 6 so the jersey was too big on him so Walter had to tuck it in his pants = otherwise it would have been like a goalie jersey on Theoren Fleury, hope you can see the visual

  2. Its a good luck charm. Though it didn't help Patrice Bergeron last season.

  3. Good one, Darren!

  4. NONE!!!

All these jokers who have some BS reason are full of it.

It's just to look like Gretzky.

In fact, it's dangerous (hip pads can get caught on things, etc.) which is why the practice is prohibited by most amateur leagues.

OMG - if you need to tuck in your shirt to help your shot, you need to step down to street hockey pucks!!!! LOL, LOL, LOL

  5. How much coffee have you had?

I sang a lullabye to mine.

  6. It is a fashion statement. Gretzky did it. Jagr did it . A few others have too. Nothing more then that. Trying to look like your idol .

  7. the players put their Jerseys on first and then their pants so their Jerseys are partly tucked into their pants and they just forget to untuck it

seriously though I think it started when Gretzky started doing it or at least it was noticed from him doing it  and its just a look i guess that caught on in the Hockey World

  8. It makes you look professional... and you get to show off your hip pads.

  9. If the jersey is too big it helps to prevent it from getting in the way and impeeding your stride.  I tuck mine in on one side for that reason.  I also know that pros do it if that matters to you.  Besides Jagr, Patrice Bergeron does it, as does someone on DET, i want to say its zetterberg.  Anyway, it is just a personal preference thing.

  10. It might make you faster since all that jersey isnt flapping in the wind when you skate.

  11. Feel. I find that I just like the way it feels to tuck one side in (shooting side). I also think it gives me better mobility with the jersey itself, the jersey doesn't get caught on anything and it feels like it fits better.

Stride is also a big thing. If it's up further it's going to impede motion less. That's why the RBK Edge have rounded tails- so they can come down to the traditional length without impeding stride. But the length is recent from players wearing them really loose...

And if you tuck one side in, the other bunches up higher, so you clear it out and don't look like a complete dork. Some guys also tuck them in on the back, but not on the sides. Serves the same purpose.

Really only a concern if the team just has one jersey size and you're small.

(size: Med. Assigned size: XL. Normally try and wear a large if available to be a little looser over pads.

Don't do it fully, but I would try it on one side to see if you like it.

  12. ^ LOL!

I think it's just fashionable. Jagr was about the only one that did it, he is rather vain.

  13. It sleeps so much better...I read to mine.

  14. I've heard that it makes you a little bit faster and it's easier to maneuver.

    LMAO Darren!!
