Im buying a new set of clubs and i need a putter, i am 6'5" and a decent golfer. I need a new putter, and i dont know what size i should get (length). I was looking at the Ping g51 or the Odyssey White Hot XG. I like blade putters better, but if a mallet is better for me, im all for that. Mainly i'm asking if i need a 35", a 36" or even maybe a 37" (if they have those). Thanks

  1. Give the Nike Ignite a try great putter.

  2. I know how you feel i'm 6'4" and club length is very important.  Definetely get fitted for your irons and woods.  You will need to measure the length from your wrist to the floor standing straight.  This helps determine what length your clubs will need to be lengthened or shortened.  Also, you should use this measurement to determine your lie angle for your clubs.  These are 2 VERY important things to have done.  As far as a putter.  I use an Odyssey 2 Ball Hot XG putter at 35".  The important thing in helping you determine which putter is best for you is to find one that feels good to YOU.  Everyone is different.  Try several of them to find the right one.  As for length, shorter seems to be better as long as when you grip your putter your eyes are directly over the ball and your putter is flat on the ground (no lifting or tilting).

  3. all major retaillers can custom fit your putter for you , of all the clubs this is the most importante club to have fitted for lie . we are close in hieght and i use 34 inch putter , 1 inch difference in altitude , but then again i take 27 inches insem in trousers .

  4. At your height, you REALLY need to get fitted. Not just for your putter, but for all your clubs.

  5. I definitely agree... Getting fitted is one of the greatest things you will do to your golf "swing". Some people like to grip & "scrunch" more... its a total opinion, & others like to stand more straighter. Just depends on the person.

Also, trying to decide on a mallet or a blade--- this is kind of more of what you like. I've gone back & forth... i prefer blades as well. Have you ever tried a heavy putter? This comes in both mallet or blade, I had used the mallet, its a totally different feel, & for awhile i was a GREAT putter with it. (i just wanted a new putter was my reason for changing-- bad, i know.) I've putted with both the Ping g51 & the Odyssey White HotXG- both are great putters, once again.. a total opinion. I previously went back to the 2 ball-- because i got it changed to fit my new stroke (I am currently changing to cross handed, fatter grip... & its not a "light" weight, but its not heavy... its in the middle--- i love it!)

There is also always a belly putter, i've tried this & it is for me & many others that i've talked to one of the greatest putters they've ever used.

    GOOD LUCK! hope i helped!
