I am willing to train as much as is necessary. I want to own and run a Day Nursery to provide the type of childcare that I would have liked to have had for my children.

  1. i have no idea

  2. It depends on where you live and what they require for licensing.  In most states you can operate a family day care for up to 6 children if there is only one adult present.  You can develop a curriculum and any type of program you want.  The ratio may be lower if you take infants.  A few classes in child development would be helpful.  Your home would need to be inspected for safety and you would need to have a background check.

  3. If you live in England you will need a minimum of Level 3 training - by 2010 though you have to have a Degree in Early years with an early years professional status (this is the equivalent of a qualified teaching status).

You will also need an enhanced CRB and to register with OFSTED.  There is loads and loads more that you will need in place before you can open such as policies and procedures, how to plan, first aid training, risk assessment training, child protection training, Special Educational needs training (SENCO) Equal ops plus loads more.

You may be able to hire staff with some of these qualifications but the majority of it will fall on you being the owner.  In addition I suggest having some business management training.
