  1. Depending on the state you live in, you will have to complete certain things for the local officials, obtain a food handlers permit, background check, have an inspection by social services or other officials granting you your licensing. Check with your state or local officials, to get more information, or call a nursey and ask questions.

  2. in the uk you need at  a level 3 course in childcare and to reg with ofsted.

  3. well firstly childcare, early years education etc should be essential, but if you are going to run the business, some business skills will be essential to make a profitable business.

i would recommend that you first gain childcare qualifications - to at least level 3, ie NVQ3 or A level, and relevant experience ie minimum 2 yrs experience in nursery setting. Then look into business skills and start to put together a business plan.

If you have the necessary qualification and experience already, have a good support network and funding ready then i'd suggest a business planning course to get things off the ground.

If you go ahead with starting your own business it will be a lot of hard work, but will be worth it in the end!

good luck with your venture x

  4. Well besides being very patient, loving, understanding, open minded, and willing you need to have a place to open it, maybe in your home or a rented space. Either way check with your state. they have regulations each center needs to follow.

Working with babies and children is so rewarding but also very challenging.  Good luck to you and your endevors.
