  1. I'm confused, a PGCE is a teaching qualification and is open to anyone with a degreee who wants to teach.  A teaching assistant does not have to have any qualifications, but generally an NVQ is a good idea.

    Have a look here:

  2. Teaching assistants normally require an NVQ or similar qualification. A PGCE would allow you to apply to become a teacher.

  3. I am sure that the school will be more than happy with your english degree and a willingness to learn about compassionately dealing with statemented children. Their statements may be for learning or behaviour, so do find that out. Some schools do want a qualified TA or Learning Support Assistant, but many do not need formal TA or LSA qualifications. Good Luck!

  4. Teaching assistant (as far as I know) doesn't really require any qualifications.

Maybe an NVQ in health and social care, or childcare would be useful.

But the most important thing is that you show amplitude for the job you applying for, good attitude and decent first appearence.

That job looks a bit too "low down" in my opinion, if you have a degree in english you can choose to do an extra year at uni to study for teaching to get a good qualification in secondary and primary schools which pays 3 times as much as that job does.
