  1. ok Ryan Newman is automatically in...yeah he won the Daytona 500 but he also won the Allstar in 2002...but I think its stupid that a driver can get in that didnt win a race because that car won a race...I think that is how Casey Mears got in last season

  2. Winners of the previous and current season and past All*Star winners. The owners of the car also get what ever driver driving it in. Basically, Jaynarie is right so give her the 10 points and I'll take my two. Good question though.

  3. Also, any driver who has run at least one race this year and has won the Championship in the last 10 years is eligible.

  4. no it is not on popularity

    ok

*any race winner from 2007 (long list)

*any race winner so far in 2008 (which qualifies Ryan Newman)

*any past cup series champion from the past 10 years

*any past all star race winner from the past 10 years

*the fans vote in a driver (most likely will be kenny wallace)

*the top 2 finishers in the open race which occurs right before the all star race

  5. The basis for the All Star race is to highlight race winners.  Any driver who won a race in the previous season or in the current season is eligible to run the race.  Car owners are eligible as well.  So, since Casey Mears won in the 25 last year, Dale Jr is in because he is now in that car (they changed the number from 25 to 88 but the points transferred).

Besides race winners, previous All Star winners are eligible- providing they won it within the last 10 years.

    Next is the Open transfers.

    And, finally, fan vote.

  6. jaynarie, you left out previous cup champions.  they are eligible if they won their championship within the past ten years, are active drivers, and have competed in at least one series event during the previous or current season.

and yes, drivers switching to cars that have won in this or last year are also eligible.  but i don't know what "points transferring" has to do with it - just the win, by the car or the driver.

and as far as i can find on the net, everywhere i look i see that dale jr's eligibility is listed as follows:

"Dale Earnhardt Jr., 2000 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Winner"

see the jayski and nascar.speedtv.com sources below for what i mean.
