Great answers all. Thing 550 you say it doesn't contribute to intelligence which is a reasonable point but does it contribute to superior imagination?

  1. I say load up on the stuff and see what happens to ya.  Nobody knows your body better than you and you should pump everyting into it you can find.  Eat it, drink it, shoot in your arm...go for it!  Dont listen to anything except the voices in your head.

  2. Muscles, body hair, acne. You decide which category they belong in.

  3. the amount of test. present at the time of conception is related to ability in spacial relations, that is why some women excel in male fields.

testosterone related behaviors have been demonized by hate groups in recent years but the pros far outnumber the cons. technology for example.

  4. I've always been lead to believe that testorsterone plays a big part in aggression, not being aboe to think locically etc but now I just think it's a load of rubbish.

was very interested when my husband had a blood analysis when he had low thyroid - he had VERY high levels of testosterone and this suprised me very much because he is the least aggressive person I know. He's a pussycat who's caring, loving and sensitive and also he has hardly any hair on his chin.  He also isn't a s*x maniac!

So I think it plays less of a part than people are made to think.

EDIT: Maybe people that attend anger management or that are very emotional should get their testosterone levels checked. it would be interesting to see the results.

  5. It makes you break up good relationships

End up in jail a lot more

    Yell for no reason

Do things that cause extreme bodily harm

    More chance of negative emotions

Make women feel very uncomfortable in or out of their houses

Make you act like an animal

Keep fighting even when you know it's time to give up

    Horny = overpopulation

I could go on and on and on

    Good part

    Win a fight

    Defend yourself and family

Build stuff, catch criminals and rogue animals

Keep fighting even when you know it's time to give up

No fear of roaming the streets

I could go on and on and on

  6. Some years ago I read a report of studies that suggested that the higher a man's testosterone levels, the more even-tempered, calmly confident, and sociable they were.

Contrary to the "overly-testosteroned as Hulk" generally accepted view.

According to that article, LESS aggressive. I don't think it said anything about stupidity (which probably isn't affcted).

  7. Testosterone effects different people in different ways, but the main commonly reported effects:

    1. your libido goes WAY up  (i'm not joking).

    2. it becomes harder to cry (again, not joking!)

    3. Excessive quantities are often associated with increased aggression, but we're talking *really* high testosterone count. It is possible excessive estrogen might also cause increased aggression too, i haven't looked into this yet.

    4. Most folks notice some shifts in thought process and emotional range, but across different people it doesn't make a consistent pattern.

Of the thousands of stories i've collected of folks who have experienced a big shift in their testosterone levels, most report no noticeable change in intelligence or daring. For everyone of the few who report an increase in intelligence or daring with increased testosterone, there are are just as many who report a decrease in intelligence and/or daring.

En sum: like with many hormones, testosterone can have a noticeable impact on the mind, but not in many predictable ways.

  8. Good Lord my friend, you sound like you are going to bottle it and sell it as an energy drink!

  9. EDIT: Actually, it probably does contribute to intelligence, but not in a direct way (eg, take testosterone get smarter). It probably does, by increasing health and fitness on a physical level, and making it more possible for healthy brain function to develop.

Hesitate to say 'superior' thinking or imagination, because there just isn't enough evidence. And also, the difficulty of saying, what is 'superior'?

Is Stephen Hawking's imagination superior to Mahatma Ghandi? They are very different, but is one 'better'? Then you'd have to determine who had more testosterone and did it contribute ... so at this stage, hard to say.

A very interesting area of study, though.

    ~*~*~*~*~

Testosterone doesn't contribute to intelligence (directly), but it does factor into good physical health for men (bone and muscle development and good heart health are all related to having good testosterone levels).

Contrary to what many people think, women also produce testosterone, although it is produced and incorporated differently in the female physiology.

While the notion that chemistry guides our destinies, so far there is no conclusive proof that testosterone 'causes' aggressiveness, which is more likely to be the result of how testosterone is used rather than just the fact of its existence.

However, while higher levels of testosterone are typically found in hyper aggressive males, socially successful males who are NOT physically aggressive but are high achievers also have high testosterone levels.

The correlation and connection ~ if any ~ will be a fascinating area of exploration and explanation.

    Cheers :-)
