  1. Pick ups. it really depends if you want to be lead or rythem.

  2. Umm well for me its about the pick ups!!! The sound it makes when you dont include any pedals. And most imporatantly how comfortable you feel with the guitar in hand.(I love my acoustic guitar to death,my guitars name is Johnny by the way LOL but I feel more comfortable using my brothers electric guitar) Get the feel of the guitar and the sound of it and you'll be fine. Dude I hope I was able to help!!!

  3. the quality of the wood and the vibration the sound makes. And if the guitar is your size because if it is to big it will be hard for your hand to make the chords:]

  4. A great look, easy to tune, stays in tune for a long time, comfortable.

  5. The easier the guitar is to play makes it a good guitar.  Price doesn't always matter.  If you want a good quality guitar that's affordable, get an Ibanez.  Their cheap guitars are actually really good.  Other than that, steer away from anything that is less 400.00 bucks.  You can get a pretty decent Ibanez for around 200.00

  6. Electronics (volume switches and pickups)

-Pickups are very important if you have a good amplifier.

Number of frets (depending on music style)

-All guitars, except stratocasters and custom guitars, are 22 or 24 frets

    Tremolo/Bridge

-This is very important because this binds your strings together. If your bridge isn't that good, the guitar will go out of tune.

Plus, if you have a whammy, your guitar will go out of tune if you don't have a locking tremolo.

    Materials

-Avoid ashwood, since it is very easy to ding. The best materials are rosewood and mahogany.

The fretboard can be either ebony, rosewood, or maple. Those are all personally preference.

-Price is a factor in quality, believe it or not.

If you are a beginner, just go for a low end guitar, nothing less than 150 and nothing more than 400.

    Goodluck!

  7. The kind of things you should be looking for in a guitar are the length and width of the neck (the neck is the part where the strings are) if you are looking to play lead guitar its best to get an electric guitar with a long neck that has a thin width, if you are looking to buy an electric make sure it has good pick up (good pick up can also be ensured with a good amplifier), make sure the sound is clear and every string can be heard when its strum, make sure it's a good brand; Gibsons, Fenders, Ibanez' are good brands there are lots out there so make sure you look around before you make any choices, like i said a good amplifier makes the guitar sound 100 hundred times better so make sure you get a good one if you are buying an electric guitar...I think thats it...=) hopefully thats answered your question..other people might be able to add to it!

  8. I will assume we are talking about an electric. I would recommend looking for a used one or an inexpensive new one, first. Take it to a luthier (guitar maker/fixer) have him set it up for you (like a tune up) a good luthier can make a nice playing nice sounding guitar out of a 2x4

once you have learned to play you will be ale to understand what is important in a guitar to you. the type and number of pickups will change the sound. good luck

  9. well i dont know much but here it goes...

the strings depends how much you

    want to bend them.

more pick ups the better the sound on a amp..

also get a guitar that you feel comfortable with

not how nice it looks. see if you like the neck

  10. HMM.....good skills to play it

p.s. your avatar reminds me of yo yo ma :DA CELLIST

  11. it has strings...and ..stuff

  12. Depends a lot on what type of music you want to play.  Do you have an instructor or are you going to try self instruction books?  If you go to one of the bigger music stores like guitar center or something, you can sit down and play with several different styles.  There are different sizes of body as well as different necks.  Some necks are thinner and some are longer with more access to the frets all the way up and down.  Some electrics have a hollow body, and some have solid wood bodies.  If you like a good solid feel and don't mind a little extra weight on the guitar, try a Gibson LesPaul studio.  You can also get a very good price and good looks with an epiphone brand name, I beleive is made by Gibson.  All in all, the qualities that make one guitar better than an other are mostly personal taste, unless you can fork out excess of $2,000.00.   Oh yea, stay away from the cheap **** like Warlock.  Wouldn't be caught dead with one of those....

  13. The main thing is it should be comfortable for you to play.

It should have a good sound. (pickups are a important for this, assuming it is electric)

It should have good action(not too high or too low)

    It should look cool.

It should be a good price...don't overpay for a guitar.
