What qualities would a ideal fabric shopping bag (for groceries) have?

What type of fabric? Long or short handles? Big or Small?

What price?

I think there should be a variety of them:

They should have an insulation system for frozen goods.

They should be made of strong material, such as canvas for heavier items.

There should be small, medium and large ones.

The handles should be long enough to throw over the shoulder.

my local meijer stores (only in michigan, ohio and kentucky) sells their blue reuseable bags.  they have really nice handles, not too short, not too long, they also have this piece of cardboard that goes on the bottom of it that keeps the bag nice and open and nice and sturdy on the bottom so they don't sag in spots.  they are made of a mesh material too,i don't know what though but it's great.  and they only cost .99 cents!!! very economical!

It should be made out of a 420 nylon or heavy canvas that has a rubber coating on the inside.  It should be the size of about two of the large sized paper bags.  Short handles that can be fastened together.  I would rather have a handle with a strip of fabric or leather that can be wrapped around the handles once and fastened with some heavy duty snaps, Velcro would be my second choice for fastening.  A pocket on the inside made out of heavy duty plastic that is big enough to insert a carton of eggs and keeps them from getting crushed would be a nice touch.  I don't know about the price, $30 to $35 sounds fair.

A canvas bag two feet by two feet with harmon straps so it could be carried on the back as well. The inside should have a canvas divider top to bottom creating two compartments. Priced three times what it cost you to make, wholesale. Apply organization, or group names on the side, could do well as a fundraiser sales item.

The bags should be made of rip stop nylon, and be shaped about like the plastic bags, maybe a tad larger. This way, they will be light, store compactly, wash and dry easily. One or two should be made of an insulating material for frozen stuff.
