What questions do I need to ask my photographer?

I've booked the company already, this is the meeting with the actual person who will be taking pictures at my wedding (which isn't until July). What questions do I need to ask him? Obviously, I'll be asking to see his portfolio, just to make sure he does what I"m looking for, but what else?

  1. My  niece  spent  several hundred  dollars  , part  was susposed to be  cost  to print more  on her  own  from  disk.  But when she  tried  it  said  "permission  required  from  photagrapher."  I  dont  know  if it  ever  got  settled  but  with  the  new publish protection  laws  check  on  this.  Also cost  list, if you can order copy later.

  2. All of these questions are great.  I have one more to give:  If color editing of pictures is included in pricing or is it extra?  Some of the colors in my pictures didn't turn out well at all and there wasn't much that could be done.  Really make sure that you are getting someone who does a good job and can help you, if things don't turn out as planned.

  3. KINDA  LATE ? CUZ ITS AUGUST....... HOW MUCH HE CHARGES AND MAKE SURE U GET ALL THE PIC S BACK INCLUDING THE NEGATIVES..  AND IS HE ON TIME..U SHOULD SEE IF HES CERTIFIED  ASK TO SEE PAPERS.

  4. Do you shoot using digital or film?

Will I be able to keep the proofs or is there an additional fee for this?

Can I get a copy of all photos on CD?

At what time will you arrive to set-up and how late will you stay at the reception? (You need to know that they will stay until bouquet toss or other events you have taking place)

Will you be coming yourself or do you have an assistant?

How will you be posing us? Do we need to choose poses in advance or will you be making those decisions on the spot?

    Other tips:

Make sure that they disclose their full fees to you including additional prints etc. and that they have a contract. Then READ the contract in detail and make sure that you understand it before signing it. Some photographers will give you a CD with all the digital files, however, some charge for this, or retain rights to the images. I would really consider who you choose based on what you want.

    Hope this helps!

    Good luck!

  5. How many hours of photography do you provide? Do you do shots of the bridesmaid/bride and then the groom/groomsman before the wedding to save time after? How long will it take to get the proofs? Do you offer a cd with all the proofs with a copyright waiver? What happens if you are sick or injured for our wedding day, who will cover the wedding then? How many weddings have you done? Have you ever shot any weddings where ours is? If so, can you suggest any particular good spots for photographs?
