What questions do emplyers ask to ex-employers for hiring new employees??

what do new emplyers ask about job refrencess? do they ask for proof of past paychecks? or do they just call the emplyer himself???

  1. It depends on the company.  When I do a reference check I normally will ask about employment dates, salary, position held, eligible for re-hire, etc...  That will give me all the information I need to help me decided whether a potential candidate would be a good fit for our company.


  2. For a reference check involving big companies, a call is made to the human resources department.  The HR staff will tell the dates you were employed and whether you got any promotions or not.  Some large companies will only tell that much and will not give out opinions on whether you were a good employee or not.  For that reason employers ask for the names of people you worked with, and one or some of them may be asked what you are like to work with and would they hire you if they could.  

  3. They don't ask for proof, and they RARELY check up on it.  It depends where you are applying.  Sometimes you can throw them off a little by just saying that your past supervisor is no longer with the company.
