What r contact lenses made of? how do they work??

  1. Contacts are made of special polymers ( type of plastics)..that are molded to certain curvatures to give the required power.

    They aren't ground, like an optical lens. They are molded like...jello. ( Most are, at least )... although some are still made on a lathe..a very small one.

    There are dozens of different materials, etafilcon, methafilcon, ocufilcon...ect...almost every filcon you can think of...lol...and each brand uses different material.

    They perform the same as a lens in your glasses after though, by focusing light onto your retina in the prescribed manner.
