We are very low on money and i would like some ideas that do not cost anything but let my boys have fun while i'm cleaning and all that. They like to sit inside and watch tv...way to much tv. I get tired of going to the park everyday. Also some good fun easy snack ideas...Thanks

  1. I would recomend going to a water park in your area. Its fun for everybody, even you would probably have a lot of fun. Also, kids that age love arts and crafts like clay and chalk. For snacks, i would suggest getting small bite size things like gummies or crackers.

  2. You could play with water balloons. And Icecream is really good.

  3. - Build Forts

    - Take them to a soccer field/B-Ball Court

    - Make a chore list *whenever they finish a chore they get a prize*

    - Play some music and let them frolic around

    -Snacks: Pretzals with dip

    -Carrots

    - Grapes *bite size fruits and veggies*

  4. One of my children's favorite activities is building forts from pillows, blankets, furniture, what ever is around.  If you take toys and books inside it somehow makes them more fun.  They can also eat in it too, or nap.

    Hope this helps.

  6. this may be long bu its worth reading

    Milk can become ice cream in five minutes! This homemade ice cream in a bag is a summertime delight for kids and adults alike.

    What you'll need:

        * 1 tablespoon sugar

        * 1/2 cup milk or half & half

        * 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

        * 6 tablespoons rock salt

        * 1 pint-size Ziploc plastic bag

        * 1 gallon-size Ziploc plastic bag

        * Ice cubes

    How to make it:

        * 1. Fill the large bag half full of ice, and add the rock salt. Seal the bag.

        * 2. Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag, and seal it.

        * 3. Place the small bag inside the large one and seal again carefully.

        * 4. Shake until mixture is ice cream, about 5 minutes.

        * 5. Wipe off top of small bag, then open carefully and enjoy!

    Tips:

    To make a larger amount, try doubling the recipe. Anything larger might be too big for kids to pick-up, because the ice itself is quite heavy.

    Here's an improvised version from another parent:

        * 1/4 tsp butternut flavored imitation vanilla

        * 1 tbs. sugar

        * 1/2 cup 1% milk

        * Ziploc sandwich bag

        * 12 water softener pellets

        * 1 tray of ice (Mine breaks it into small pieces and it is really only about half tray)

        * Large plastic bag (I didn't have a ziploc.)

    Put the ice cream ingredients in the small bag and then put it, salt and ice in the big bag. Hold the bag shut and sort of stir it around on the floor for about 5 minutes. Although the salt pellets hardly dissolved , I got ice cream. It was not as smooth as ice cream, probably because of the low-fat milk -- it was a little like sherbet. I think if I had more ice in the bag I could have shaken it better. I'd recommend wearing gloves. It is incredible that it is ready in 5 minutes (not counting assembling the ingredients.)

    theres your snack idea but for your kids to play i suggest a slip in slid the cheep one they cost 20 $ and are alot of fun

    buy buggy bored and or inter tube and let them slide down its hours of fun evry day for your kids

  7. Sometimes we have P day -- pajamas (we don't get dressed), pancakes for breakfast, picnic (in the family room on the floor).

    We play blocks, and make a zoo for all their little plastic animals, then bring larger animals, Sesame St. characters to the zoo.  With that age you have to do the "play and walk away" -- from the super nanny.  Get them buiding the zoo, help them then go load the dishwasher, then go back, help more and then go do laundry, then bring the friends and tour the zoo.  The kids get so involved that they don't realize you are getting stuff done.

    We also have puzzle days -- where we do all of our puzzles, and we have a lot so it take a while.

    And what about the library.  Join the summer reading club, attend story time (it usually comes complete with stories, singing, a craft and sometimes a short movie).  Some libraries also do a snack.  We can kill an hour or more at the library.  Depending where you live the kids sections can be really cool and have puzzles, puppets, etc.  Lately, when we have a day at the library, we also have Family Reading Night -- where they set up blankets and pillows and we take turn reading books.  Even my 4 year old will "read" to us (tell us what is in the pictures).

    Also, family movie night (or day) -- with free movies from the library.

    I also give mine room time (sometimes, I am not as good with this as I used to be), but it is amazing how much I can do in 30 minutes that they are required to play in their room.

    Snacks....grapes on sale, apples with peanut butter, cereal, popcorn, pretzels (10 for $10 on sale at Kroger).

    Good luck!

  8. Ohhh, yeah, forts! My great-grandmother used to baby-sit me, and sometimes, she'd get a secret smile on her face, go to her linen closet, grab some blankets, make a fort using the dining room table and then she'd serve me celery and peanut butter underneath.

    Also, play-doh is cheap and easy to make. There are tons of recipes on the internet and it keeps for a while as long as you've used plenty of salt. You can also let them make things out of the dough and let them dry and then paint them with food coloring and water.

    Um... bubbles- dish soap mixed with water makes a TON of cheap bubbles. And old wire hanger bent into a circle makes a great wand.

    Wire hangers bent into circles with old pantyhose over them make good "rackets" and the rest of the hose rolled into a ball make a good "birdie".

    Um, treasure hunts

    "camping out" with blankets under the aforementioned "fort" after roasting hot dogs and marshmallows on the grill

    Water fights in the back yard

    Have everyone wear their jammies all day, make a "breakfast" for every meal

    Go on a nature hike and make collages with the things you find.

    That's what I've got off the top of my head
