Well, if you want to introduce them to musical instruments you could always have a musician come in and play a song for them and let them touch the instrument.

3's love fingerplays. And they love to "dance" to music.

let them make noise makers and then enjoy the sounds they make. That is music to their ears b/c they made it. (plastic bottles with beans in them are great)

Singing songs and using basic musical instruments like a tambourine, xylaphone or drums and when they hear a certain word they have to shake a certain instrument.

humming, singing, clapping, tapping on different things like pans or wood with sticks, dancing, harmonicas and kazoos.

check out Dr. Jean CD's - they are great - we do them every day with our 3 year olds.

We have musical instruments out daily and on special days I bring out the whole container :-)  I have had great success with introducing each instrument on its own and then providing materials to make something similar for them to take home.  

Putting on a CD and allowing for them to move to the music with the instruments is great learning in itself.  That sense of rhythm that is developed will definately benefit them in their future schooling.  :-)  I like the CD Rhythms on Parade by Hap Palmer.
