  1. drills? well for setting if you have a basketball hoop or one neer you take your vball and try and set it in the hoop, also try it with bumping to. for serving get one of your friends and stand away from eachother and searve to eachother back and forth, dont forget to follow throught. spiking sometimes you just have to do the jumping and stuff without the ball. also you can stand in one place or with a friend and try and hit it up without having to run or hit it back and forth. it really helps to use your friends so they get practice and stuff to.

  2. Well i was a setter & my setting coach gave me a few drills. Easiest and best thing to improve your skill is to lay on your back and keep setting to yourself. When you set you want NO spin on the ball so practice that. This also helps with control practice setting low and high and try to always make it come right down on your chest. This really improved my skill. Second you have to practice as a ball would actually come to you in a game. So throw the ball up in the air and practice getting under it, coiling, and setting up to set it. You can practice against a wall setting nonstop. This also helps with control. I also backset against walls so turn around and try this if youre familular with it. If you have accest to a net practice setting to certain positions. Practice an outside hitter, an inside hitter, and a pike as if they were rightys and leftys. Practice close to the net spikes and far from the net spikes as different players like their balls a certain way. This was most important as my coach told me. If you know where your team mates like the ball they will do better and we will do better as a team. http://volleyball.about.com/od/settingba... Theres a link which shows the differnt positions to learn to set to. I dont know if your playing at a college or high school level so this may be a bit too detailedd. Practice setting with a light medicine ball to improve arm stregnth. Get to the gym! After practice we had an hour in the trainning room everyday. This will imropve your set and serve. Make sure you bend your knees. Setting is all practice, there shouldnt be loud noise when you set. Use your fingertips my coach said to only use your thumb pointer and middle finger when setting. All the noise you should hear is a slight ppft.

Serving<3 Do you serve over-hand, underhand or have a jump serve? I'm just going to go in the middle and say your an overhand server. Always keep your hand tense and tight. My secret was always the floater. Stand with your toes at the serving line. This one requires alot of stregnth and power. Throw the ball up so that the little button(where you would add air and pump the ball to) comes right into contact with your hand. When this is done right the ball will have no spin and once someone tries to bump it, it will fly off their arms in any direction. Otherwise practice your timing. Practice throwing the ball up and timing when you should hit it. Rember to hit it at the highest point you can. For this our coach had us serve against the wall. We would then have to set a number for ourselves and serve the ball over the net that many times. If we didnt get it you would have to keep serving until you could. We would put chairs out on the court and your goal was to knock it down, if you missed sit-ups/push-ups. We also played a game every once in a while called dead fish..I'm too lazy to type it out cause this is long already so i found a link of it..http://volleyball.about.com/cs/clubhouse...

Spiking fun fun fun. Well i was a very short setter so i just had littls sneaky tips. Dont doubt the power of a good tip thought. Make sure you keep your eyes open pay attention to the other teams formation and look for holes. If you see one THAT is where you want the ball. A good one is ususall cross court right behind the blocking player. It all depends on their system. We had a very powerful hitter but she just couldnt keep the ball in bounds. Our coach sent her home with tennis balls and made her jump up to her fence and snap the ball down. This gets your wrist familular with the action. Practice jumping and meeting the ball and snapping your wrist down. If youre a righty practice by saying right left right jump hit.

Practice is key. Always use targets say okay im going to hit it right there. I had a little shed in my backyard and there was a tiny glass window i always aimed at that, and of course broke it! http://www.bucks-volleyball.co.uk/pages/...  There is a whole lot of specific drills to do with more people. I took it as you were playing by yourself. Also for spiking stand by a wall and practice jumping and spiking over an immaginary net.

Good luck but have fun!!!! <3VOLLEYBALL!!!

  3. one really good drill that helped me is i got a partner and i would serve it to them and they would bump it back to me and i would set it and then they would spike it. after that we would switch who started first and do that for like a half hour to 2  hours. and remember even if u practice for only 5 min u get better! good luck

  4. For setting, you can just lie on the ground and set to yourself.  For serving you just need to serve.  For spiking work on your vert by jumping and doing approches, then go out and hit a ball.

  5. For setting either buy a weighted setters ball and practice with litle sets or with a normal ball set the ball causing your arms to be at full extension, let it bounce and do it again.  For hitting, hit against a wall, and practice your approach over and over again.  For serving, if you have a net, serve against the net at least 50 times, do your tosses at lest 100 times and then just keep serving and serve at certain spots.
